  1. The problem tMonitor is trying to solve

Indoor air quality has a significant impact on workers’ productivity and acts in terms of both their health and their sense of well-being. All studies demonstrate the direct influence of ambient air pollution elements such as temperature, humidity and CO2 levels on the occupants of indoor locations, whether at the workplace,  schools, hospitals … or home.

According to a U.S  Environmental Protection Agency study, a person approximately spends more than 90% of his life in both private and public indoor environments, and much of that time is at work, high density workplaces like textiles, garments factories, etc that we see a lot in many industry zones… in Vietnam, which indicates the importance of measuring air quality and applying appropriate measures to improve that quality.

For many people, the health risks from exposure to indoor air pollution may be greater than those relating to outdoor pollution. In particular, poor indoor air quality can be harmful to vulnerable groups such as children, young adults, the elderly, or those suffering chronic respiratory and/or cardiovascular diseases.

Indoor air quality problems are not limited to homes. In fact, many commercial buildings have significant air pollution sources. Some of these buildings may be inadequately ventilated. For example, mechanical ventilation systems may not be designed or operated to provide adequate amounts of outdoor air. Finally, people generally have less control over the indoor environment in their offices than they do in their homes. As a result, there has been an increase in the incidence of reported health problems.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), indoor air pollution is responsible for 2.7% ( 1.4 million people are dying each year) of the burden of disease globally. It decreases productivity & safety at workplaces as well.

Indoor air quality is a global challenge for governments, regulators, city administrators and citizens. Many governments are investing multi-billion dollar sums in policies and solutions to improve air quality and they are empowering cities to tackle air pollution locally. In order to implement effective policies and interventions there is an increasing focus on understanding the levels and causes of air pollution. Today, air quality monitoring is performed by large, expensive scientific instruments permanently installed and professionally maintained, at a relatively small number of fixed locations. This makes it difficult for citizens to understand the levels of pollution they experience in their daily lives, as the monitoring data is not available in real time and is very sparse.

The needs of development of guidelines and checklists for labor inspection of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) conditions for workers. In support for the implementation of the Vietnamese Labour Code 2012 and the OSH Law 2016, several Vietnamese Decrees and Circulars have been issued including Decree No. 44/2016/ND-CP on OSH training, verification and work environment monitoring, and Circular No. 19/2016/TT-BYT guiding the management of occupational hygiene and workers’ health. These new regulations create new obligations for Labour and OSH Laws enforcement at the central and local levels.

We are turning CHALLENGES into OPPORTUNITIES

– Lack of awareness on how air quality is important to both human & business health.

– No comprehensive real-time industrial air quality monitoring system in Viet Nam.

– No early warning predictive data analysis to support ERP decisions

– High cost & manual measurement performed and controlled by government authority to implement the environmental laws and regulations.

  1. The solution – tMonitor system platform

tMonitor is a hardware and software Air Quality Monitoring system, leveraging AI / Machine Learning with IoT for real-time monitoring, control the ambient air on 13 important indicators of working environment to enable the short & long term control of all factors affecting community health, ensure safety, boost labor productivity, and response to emergency crisis.

tMonitor’s hardware and software comply with the regulations on the Vietnamese Ministry of Health’s Circular 19/2016/TT-BYT and the Vietnamese Government’s Decree No.44/2016/ND-CP. tMonitor is the only device currently on the market that can track 13 air quality factors that affect health and well-being.

tMonitor is powered by Internet of Things, Cloud computing for edge device lifecycle management, a hardened end-to-end security solution which ensures the highest standards of security, reliability, and scalability of the network. This enables the rapid deployment of devices in any indoor environment regardless of the infrastructure of the building.

The system leverages Machine learning/Deep learning to trigger an alert on the Crisis Management System when it detects results outside of normal parameters for a particular metric.

The system features cloud-based analytics, data management, and visualization software.  Its 4 core functions are:

  • Online monitoring: monitor air pollutants.
  • Online visualization: visualize and present real-time information from all surveillance sites.
  • Online reporting: present statistical indicators of monitoring data.
  • Crisis Management solution: help an organization put its standard process in place to support the organization to deal with any event that threatens to harm the organization, its stakeholders or the general public when it occurs.

By enabling the Artificial Intelligence-based Internet of Things Indoor Air Quality Monitoring System, this ensures the safest environment & most energy-efficient use of systems with access to data anytime anywhere for building managers, employees, and residents via a mobile phone or on the web.

tMonitor can support smarter energy usage and building managers meet air quality monitoring requirements in order to pursue a green building certification.

tMonitor enables quick deployment of devices in commercial, industrial, retail & residential buildings with simple, affordable integration into any built environment. The results are better health, wellness, comfort, energy & performance in commercial and industrial facilities, buildings, hospitals, schools, homes, etc. Increasing the level of awareness among the public about the hazards of pollution and healthcare is also fuelling the growth of the global indoor air quality monitor market.

With immediate data access on a phone or the web and sophisticated text or email alerts, decision-makers can anticipate needs, react accordingly, optimize building performance, reduce maintenance & operational costs, implement energy-efficient systems, improve occupant comfort, and grow business in the long run.

Continuous monitoring of tMonitor enables a profile of the air environment to be created, and an analysis of the recorded data through dedicated cloud-based software allows for more efficient resource and energy management. The software can be used as an analytical tool to identify trends and rectify problem areas leading to a better indoor air environment and safer, more comfortable working conditions.

Being enabled by Crisis Management Solution – an application of strategies designed to help an organization deal with a sudden and significant negative event, the system has an up-to-date plan in place to effectively handle the air quality crisis regardless of the scale. This might include a list of contact information readily available so users can quickly contact all of the necessary parties, training managers on safety protocol to keep themselves and employees safe and knowing how to address news media when an emergency occurs to keep their company’s reputation intact.
